I joined Gandhi Brigade in July of 2005 because I believe in preparing our next generation of teens to become leaders, especially in their communities and schools. My first love at Gandhi Brigade is behind the scenes work and which is why, I have assumed the role as Corporate Giving Coordinator for GB.
Â
I was born in Maryland and I graduated high school in Southern Maryland in the 1980's. I attended college in Michigan where I spent four years learning the layout of the campus, taking fun classes, joining an internship program in my junior year, traveling to exotic places as a senior, while working at my college's radio and television stations as well as being a full-time member of the ROTC program as a scholarship student.
Â
I spent a little over five years in the Army where I traveled to the Germany, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Greece, Korea, and several other countries when I was on personal leave from my military duties.
Â
When I returned to the United States, I eventually returned to full-time civilian work in a variety of industries like defense consulting, communications, and a social service agency called SEEC in Silver Spring, MD as well as working on the campuses of Trinity College (now called Trinity Washington) in DC and Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I also took some very interesting graduate classes at Johns Hopkins University while also participating in their Leadership Development Program (LDP).
Â
I share our Executive Director's sentiments, as I also enjoy mentoring youth and working side by side with them as they learn how to use video and other digital media as a tool to engage themselves in their communities. I believe that by investing in our youth we can prepare them to become wise, courageous, compassionate, and ultimately tomorrow's leaders.
