An Ounce of Prevention....
Written by Heather Bradley-Kubo
On Saturday June 5th, 9 Gandhi Brigade teens launched their own multimedia campaigned, "Jovenes Pa'Lante" (Youth Moving Forward). The young people wowed their guests with workshops for youth and parents about sexual and reproductive health and the importance of communication and knowledge in order to prevent the rising rates of teen pregnancy for Latino youth.
To top it off, they shared their youth produced PSA and Poster campaign with the audience, inviting important dialogue around the special needs and changes that we must see amongst ourselves as youth, in the community services area, and within our families.
If you couldn't make it on Saturday, come see us at the next ICAP meeting on on Tuesday, June 15 from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Commission for Women, 401 N. Washington St., Suite 100.
Many thanks to our friends and sponsors in this project: Susan Cruz, UMDB, Carlos Pinto & Ruthie Flores, The National Campaign for the Prevention of Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, Rudy Guernica, Univision, Reggie Stevenson, Fox News, and Deborah Nelson, Northwood High School.
